The death of William Bennett, a native of Schenevus, occurred Sunday, February 3rd in the Norwich hospital, following a few months of declining health. He was the youngest child of William and Hannah Hinman Bennett and was born in the Bennett homestead, now owned by Mike Rhru, July 19, 1861. He married Nettie Baker of Delaware County and two children, a daughter, Rose, and a son, James, were born to them. Both are deceased. Until middle life, they resided on the home farm and were associated in Agriculture with his brother, the late John Bennett. Retiring from active life, they purchased a home near Sidney where they remained until his death and where his widow plans to stay. The funeral was held in the Bainbridge funeral home, the Masonic ritualistic services being given Monday evening and the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon. Surviving besides his widow are a grandson, Frank Groff of Schenectady, and tow great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Rose Chase of Schenevus and two nephews, John W. Chase of Schenevus and Ralph Bennett of Schenectady; two nieces, Miss Lillian Chase of Albany and Mrs. Lee H. Cummings of New York. ["The Otsego Farmer & Republican."
