Anna Maria Schlappi McQuillin was born in Lenk im Simmental, Canton of Bern, Switzerland (Baptism Record: Taufrodel Lenk, Zivilstandsamt Lenk im Simmental, 1813-1821, p. 85 entry 62). She Immigrated with her father and siblings on the Ship Attica, landing in New York Harbor April 4, 1834. A family record states that "[the] stormy passage of the ocean lasted four weeks". By May 1834, the family purchased parcels of land from the U.S. Government in what is now Delta, Fulton Co., Ohio (7N7E--Sec 12; see Fulton Co., Ohio Deed Abstracts, Vol 2, p. 194). She married John McQuillin, son of Jacob McQuilling and Elizabeth, on 19 Feb 1839 in what was then Lucas Co., Ohio. They raised their family of six children in York Twp., Fulton Co., Ohio. Anna's death record states: "Anna M. S. McQuillin age 70 died 27 Jul 1890 in York Twp., housekeeper; married b. Switzerland; cause: La Grippe; residence: York."
