DELANO, Robert Lynn, "Bobby," age 61, of Loretto, died peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at his residence. The fourth of seven children, born on June 7, 1950 to the late Calvert Hugh and Pollyanna Boughan Delano, "Bobby" grew up in Howertons, attended Center Cross Elementary School and graduated from Tappahannock High School in 1969. He was a lifelong member of Howertons Baptist Church. Bobby joined the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He was an insurance agent for Southland Life and Life of Georgia for many years and most recently worked for Monumental Life Insurance in Richmond. Bobby is survived by his wife, Ellen Wolfe Delano; his daughter, Casey Delano Thrift and her husband, Bryan; three grandsons, Davis, Braden and baby Thrift due in February, all of Smithfield; his four sisters and their husbands, Carol Ann and Terry Neist, Betty Page and Jackie Weiss, Sandra and Corey Ball, all of Howertons, and Faye and Wayne King of Warsaw. He is also survived by his brother, Kenny Delano and his wife, Patricia, of Desha; as well as his youngest brother and best friend, Rodney of Howertons; his aunt, Betty Delano of Warsaw, and uncle and aunt, Joseph and Angie Boughan of Newport News; a number of nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011, in Howertons Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the donor's choice.
