Charles Perry was born in Greene Co. to Eli Dillard Hutchins and Permelia Elizabeth Tuck Hutchins. He married Jessie Grace Coble in 1911. They had five children: Wanda Marie, Charles Milford, William Oren, Raymond Hubert and Henry Eugene. CP was "saved" an became a christian at the age of 15. As a student of Southwest Baptist College of Bolivar, MO, he was a member of the Philomathean Literary Society. He was ordained by the Greene County Baptist Ministers Association. The Missouri Baptist Annuals listed "Charles Perry Hutchins" as an evangelist in southwest MO for many years. He pastored at least one church, in the early 1920s he pastored the Cabool First Baptist church. He was divorced from Jessie on June 6, 1927 in Dade County, Missouri. Oren and Raymond were with their father when he died of undetermined causes, and according to Oren was told by him to be "good boys". CP's services were conducted by Tom Proctor.
