Daughter of First Sheriff, Pioneer Resident, Dies Sunday

Mrs. Janie Ivy, 83 daughter of Angelina county's first sheriff died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the residence of her son, Josh Ivy, in Huntington.

Mrs. Ivy, lovingly known at "Aunt Janie" by everyone in the community in which she had spent her entire life, was the wife of the late Tobe Ivy, who died in 1924. She was the daughter of George T. W. Collins, Angelina county's first sheriff, and was a pioneer residence of this county. Death followed an illness of two weeks.

She had been a member of the Baptist Church of Huntington since childhood.

Survivors are two sons; John and Bob Ivy of Huntington; five daughters, Mrs. M. F. Cochran and Mrs. J. I. Donnell of Huntington, Mrs. Roy Welch of Splendora, Mrs. Bill Malone of Canton, and Mrs. Owen Ferquiron of Oil City, LA. Seventy-nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
