His obituary says buried at West Hill Cem

A prewar lawyer in Aberdeen, Mississippi, he move to Sherman, Texas just before the war as an active secessionist. In May, 1861, he occupied the recently abandoned Fort Washita, Indian Territory, with a detachment. He was appointed colonel of the 20th Texas Cavalry on April 12, 1982, fount at Prairie Grove and in the Indian Territory, then resigned March 1, 1864 due to lung disease. An army inspector termed Bass "an officer of no competency."

Postwar lawyer, land agent, and editor in Sherman, Texas. Probably buried in the mass grave for yellow fever victims in Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee.
