He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Chicago, son of August and Marie Seele Meyer. He married Marjorie Miller on Jan. 23, 1949, at her parents' home in rural Greene.
Mr. Meyer farmed, and through the years moved various times in the farming communities of Independence, Nashua, Greene and Clarksville. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.
Survived by: his wife; five daughters, Anita (James) Kowalski of Salinas, Calif., Diana (Daniel) Gritzner of Batavia, Ill., Rosemary (Joel) Sult of Allison, Heidi (Jeff) Kayser of Lake Mills and Ginger (Scott) Schild of Clarksville; four sons, Steven (Barb), David and Stan (Denise), all of Clarksville, and Thomas (Brenda) of Parkersburg; 30 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Swick of Clarksville. Preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Clarksville, with burial in Antioch Cemetery, rural Clarksville. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church.
