He was born Oct 24, 1895 in Leetonia, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Farmer Andler. He had lived in Columbiana for threee months, coming from Raynham Center, Mass.
He was a graduate of Mount Union College and also attend Sorbonne University and L'Alliance Francais, both in Paris. France. He was a World War I Army veteran, serving in France.
Following his Army discharge in 1919, he taught school in the Portage County school system He than accepted a sales position with Walter Janbier Inc of New York City, becoming company vice president in 1926.
In 1940, his company was acquired by Beecham's Limmited of London, where he became president of their American subsidiary, Ritchie and Janbier, in 1944. With the company, he directed the introductory sales and merchandising of several of today's leading sellers, including Brylcream and McCleen' toothpaste. In1946, he joined the Walker Co of Middleboro, Mass as vice president and director, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of the New Bedford Country Club in Massachusetts, the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and was a charter life member of the Joe Williams Post 131 of the American Legion in Leetonia.He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mabel Hartwell, who died in 1969.
He leaves one sister, Mrs Doris Sauerwein of Leetonia and several nieces.
Services will be held at 2pm Wednesday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia with the Rev Jeffrey Shultz officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Street Cemetery in Raynham Center, Mass.
There will be no calling hours.
