Mary Z. Andrews, 96, of Glen Easton, W.Va., formerly of Proctor, W.Va., died Tuesday, October 25, 2011.

Mary was born June 12, 1915 in Randolph County, W.Va., to parents, Frank and Mary Zafred Zolar.

She graduated from Davis & Elkins College and received her Masters Degree from WVU. She went on to become a schoolteacher in Randolph, Wetzel and Marshall County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher Andrews; sisters, Molly Dietrick, Eustine Poyle, Agnes Bors and Patricia Bates; and son-in-law, Darrel Ballard.

Mary is survived by four sons, Robert (Bonney), Frank (Donna), Joseph (Bonny) and John (Becky) Andrews; four daughters, Jane (John) Batten, Therese (Britt) Hayes, Christine Ballard and Margaret (Ivan) Richmond; grandchildren, John Horn, Katherine Andrews, Christina Leger, Elizabeth Hayes, Mark and Andrew Ballard, Susan Andrews, Evan and Milo Andrews, Wes Palmore and Taylor LeBlanc; two sisters, Jane (Chuck) Snyderburn and Sophia Rupert; brother, Frank (Lois) Zolar; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends received from 4-9 p.m. Friday, October 28, at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, W.Va. Rosary service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Chritian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, at St. Joseph Settlement Catholic Church in Proctor, W.Va., with Rev. Prakash Sebastian as celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Settlement Catholic Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, 64 Frohnapel Lane, Proctor, WV 26055.Daughter of Frank Zolar and Mary Zafred. Mary married Fletcher E. Andrews on September 1, 1942 in Randolph Co., WV.

Our dear mother's soul departed this world and is now joined with the Angels and Saints giving praise to the Lord she faithfully served all her life. Mary Zolar Andrews passed on to her Heavenly reward on October 25, 2011.
Mary was born June 12, 1915 in Randolph County, WV to parents, Frank and Mary Zafred Zolar who had immigrated from Yugoslavia. She was the eldest of their 8 children and helped in the raising of her 7 siblings. She graduated from Davis & Elkins College and received her Masters Degree from WVU. She went on to become a schoolteacher in Randolph, Wetzel and Marshall County. After her retirement from teaching, Mary traveled to Slovenia where she found many family members, with whom she was able to communicate, having remembered the language of her childhood. She brought together her families from both sides of the ocean, which will remain her legacy for years to come. She also traveled to the Holy Land, Greece, Germany and Portugal. Mrs. Andrews will always be remembered for her love of God and Church and her dedication to teaching. She loved music, dancing, reading and educating others. She has been a true inspiration to all who knew and loved her and her family will miss her mightily.
