Gilbert Curtis Hurst, age 84, of Sun Valley, Clarksburg, WV, departed this life on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at the United Hospital Center, in Bridgeport, WV.
He was born in East Liverpool, OH, on Aug. 22, 1927, a son of the late Curtis Bryan Hurst and Grace Lenora (Maxwell) Hurst.
Surviving are his wife of almost 67 years, Katherine Blanche (Crews) Hurst; one son, Clifton Curtis Hurst and his wife, Sue E.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Rexel Gay Hurst; two daughters, Edna Gale Postlewait and Diane Lynn Bragg; two sisters, Marcella Hensal and Lucille Hurst and three brothers, Harry Hurst and twin infant brothers.
Mr. Hurst served his country during World War II in the Army. He was a truck driver for LP Gas Co. for 30 plus years.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wed., Nov. 2, 2011, with Rev. Sam Cale III presiding. Entombment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.
