Mrs. Melissa Spangler Was Buried Monday at Canfield Cemetery
Mrs. Melissa Spangler, 64, who passed away Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the family residence near the fair grounds, was buried Monday afternoon in Canfield cemetery. Rev. Rowe C. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Rev. J. L. Cooke were in charge of the services. Chappell funeral home had charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were nephews of Mrs. Spangler. They were Sid Pogue, Jack Nettles, Hoyl Williams, Herschel Williams, Homer Williams and Thelmer Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Bellamy, Bill Kuykendall, Hi Wynn, H. T. Williams, also nephews of the deceased.
A choir composed of Mrs. W. E. Mendenhall, Mrs. J. B. Kirk, Mrs. Guy R. Old, Herbert O. Flowers, David Fuller and Alex Tohkubbi sang, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," "Nearer My God To Thee," and "When We All Get To Heaven."
Mrs. Spangler was a member of the Baptist church and had lived a consistent Christian life. She was a splendid lady and her passing away is regretted by the entire community.
She is survived by her husband, J. D. Spangler; one son, Hubert Allbritton; father, W. S. Williams; one brother, J. W. Williams, all of Idabel, and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Wynn, Idabel, and Mrs. H. A. Smith, Phoenix, Arizona. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Smith, who was unable to attend.
