Fincastle Herald July 13, 1950
Mr L H Burgh, 91, died at his home in Roanoke Sunday. A native of the Brugh Section of Botetourt. He was a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Gish Burgh. He lived in Roanoke since a young man, where he had engaged in the grocery business and later in the manufacture of fertilizer. Surviving are a daughter; Mrs Earl Doray; three sons; A B and Homer Brugh, Roanoke, Victor Brugh, Richmond, and a sister; Mrs W F Robinson, Nace. Funeral services were held at the Oakey Chapel in Roanoke, Tuesday at 1 pm. Burial was in Evergreen.

A Tribute to Leslie H Brugh
Leslie Brugh, age 91, went to his celestial home the 9th of July 1950. Born in Botetourt County near Brugh's Mill. He was the son of Jacob P Brugh and Mary Eliza Gish Brugh. He was first married to Minnie Fiery in 1892. To this union was born three sons, Homer, Beale and Victor, and one daughter, Mrs Ruth Dorsey, all living. His wife preceded him in death eighteen years ago. He has lived with his daughter who so loyally gave him every attention that a loving daughter could. Loyalty to his church, his loved ones, his friends and neighbors, was one of his shining characteristics. His devotion to his only sister, Mrs Vista Robinson was ennobling. He was considered one of the most loyal Sunday school and church attendants of the First Baptist church of which he be so long a deacon. When he was absent there was a cause, he joined Mill Creek Baptist church in Botetourt County in his youth and was ever faithful. Always enjoyed a joke and when a schoolteacher for several years had many experiences, which he enjoyed to relate. In 1882 he went to Christiansburg and was clerk and bookkeeper for Johnson and Masby til 1888. In 1890 he went into the grocery business located near Caldwell Sites and later moved to Jefferson St near National Exchange Bank, called L H Brugh's Grocery Place and delicatessen. Later was made vice president of Southern Chemical Co.

The burial service was conducted from Oakey's Chapel by his pastor, Dr Wade Bryant and burial in Evergreen. The love and esteem in which he was held was manifested in a small way by the many beautiful flowers contributed.
