She was born July 7, 1908, at Claflin, the daughter of Fredrick Galloway and Anna Bitner. A graduate of Southwestern College, Winfield, she was a teacher.
She was a member of the Epworth Methodist Church, Wichita, and the Private Music Teacher Association.
She married Samuel 0. Avery. He died May 11, 1987.
Survivors include: two sons, John C, Wichita, James A., Freiburg, West Germany; a brother, Herbert Galloway, New Rochelle, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Lyons Cemetery, the Rev. Gary Brooks presiding.
Friends may call today and Monday at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita.
Memorials may go to the Alzheimer's Association, South Central Kansas Chapter, in care of the funeral home.
