MAURINE G. BERMESTER [sic]
Maurine G. Burmester, Nana, died early Friday morning, Nov. 14, 2003.
Born September 6, 1902 in Lake Point, Utah to Charles A. Griffith and Mary Knowlton Griffith. Maurine lived an extremely long and happy life in various communities throughout the state of Utah. She married Byron Bovee Burmester Sr. of Grantsville, Utah in 1922 and together they had two children, Byron Bovee Jr. and Anne. A graduate of the University of Utah, Maurine taught first grade for many years in Davis County.
Maurine was blessed with a gift for knitting, showering loved ones with precious sweaters, coats, and afghans. She also loved her vegetable garden, working the earth with her hands and later vicariously through her son when she was no longer able to do it herself. Nana was a loving and patient grandmother. Treats and coins were standard fare every time the grandchildren came for a visit. Tuesday nights, dinner, and little television, in the days when it was safe for children, are a cherished memory.
Maurine is survived by her daughter Anne B. Bergera and son-in-law Dr. Jerald Bergera, daughter-in-law Barbara Meissner and her three grandchildren, Joseph Bergera (Alice), Shelly Burmester Benevento, Fred Burmester (Karen) and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday Nov. 21, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 355 North 1100 East.
