J.F. Adams, Fauntleroy Realtor, Dies
Funeral services for John F. Adams, 93, retired West Seattle realtor and one of Fauntleory's first residents, will be Wednesday with burial in Forest Lawn. Mr. Adams died yesterday in a nursing home. He had been ill the past two years. Mr. Adams was born in Mansfield, Ohio. He went to Spokane in 1892 and came here in 1897. He first was in the grocery business and entered the real-estate business in 1903. In 1905, when Mr. Adams moved to West Seattle, business with Seattle was conducted by boat. In 1907, he helped to promote and build the first trolley service to West Seattle. He also donated the land and helped build the first Fauntleroy Congregational Church. In 1924 and 1925, Mr. Adams was president of the Seattle Real Estate Board. For many years he was the oldest realtor in the state and in recent years was made an honorary life member of the board. He also was made an honorary life member of the West Seattle Commercial Club. He had been active in the Seattle Chamber of Commerce as a younger man. Mr. Adams was known as the "mayor of Fauntleroy." Mr. Adams operated his real-estate business until about ten months ago. Mr. Adams' wife, Maggie, died in 1941. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bert A. Northrop and Mrs. Roland H. Burke, both of Seattle; three grandsons and six great grandchildren.
