Oretha Agatha Wallace was born July 16, 1927, in the town of Tullahassee, Oklahoma to David Lee and Kimmie Fredonia Wilburn, both of whom preceded her in death.
Oretha was united in marriage to Mr. Ambrosia Wallace on June 12, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death after thirty-nine and a half years of marriage on March 22, 1984. In this union, God blessed them with twelve beautiful children. One son, Eric Marlo, preceded them both in death at an early age.
At an early age, Oretha confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of her life. She was on fire for the Lord and always had a word of encouragement for everyone she met. She was faithful and devoted to sharing the goodness of the Lord and His love. A beautiful person and one of God's best servants, she was affectionately called "Mama Retha' by many.
Mama Retha never met a stranger - she always made you feel right at home. A beautiful person with a heart of gold, she made you feel there was hope, even in a hopeless situation.
She was the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and friend.
On Friday, March 14, 1997, God called her home to be with Him.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: (Bo) Cecil Earl (Janelle) Wallace, Christopher Lamar (Sharon) Wallace and Timothy Eugene Wallace; eight daughters, Uearlene Howard, Girlie Dean (Wilbert) Gilmore, Cynthia Ann (David Lee) Brown, Kay Frances (McKinley Jr.) Pouncil, Orletha Gail (Calvin) Blades, Sharlene (Anthony) Ashford, Linda Annett (Terry) Strickland of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Sharon (Donlad) Chambliss of Houson, Texas; one sister, Oletha Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; twenty-nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; nieces , nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
