Mariah Emily Dailey was the daughter of William R. Dailey and Hulda Hannah Redenbaugh. She was born in Greenville Township in Indiana.

Mariah married Henry Lyton (1841-1874) August 1868 at Thurman, Fremont Co., Iowa. Henry was from Canada, he had come to the U.S. to enlist in the Civil War. From this union there were 3 children
