Ora was the daughter of W. C. Osborne and Louisiana Logan. In the 1880 census for Pierce Chapel, Lee County, Alabama, Orah is listed as age 12. She lived with her parents and three sisters and two brothers. Her father was a farmer. By 1900 the family moved to Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Her father's occupation was produce merchant. At this time Ora appears to have taken liberties with her age, because she is listed as age 27.
She was a member of the East Dallas Presbyterian Church.
