Laura died young, possibly from childbirth, between the birth of her daughter August 23, 1884 and December 19,1888, leaving her daughter to be reared by another Carmack cousin. Dora Laycook married her second cousin, Samuel Anderson Carmack, the son of Pellam Poinsett Carmack and Ann R Flemming.
Laura's husband John W. Laycook married Miss M. M. McCamey on December 19, 1888 in White County, Arkansas, but died sometime before the 1900 census.
