Funderal services were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Levi Morrison, Florence pioneer, who died here at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon after an illness of ten months.
Services were held in the Campbell Chapel, Rev. J. R. Burchfield of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Mesdames Richard Evans and R. Owens of Coal Creek sang two duets entitled, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Sometime We'll Understand." The accompaniements were played by Miss Lottie Richards of Coal Creek.
The pallbearers were: Ben Beach, E. E. Edwards, Phillip Meyers, Thomas Jessop, James Montgomery and Henry Ives.
A large concourse of friends accompanied the remains to Highland cemetery, where the Woodmen of the World lodge had charge of the services. Interment was under the direction of the Campbell Funeral Directing company.
Numerous floral pieces were presented, attesting the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Oil workers in the Florence sent a floral piece in the form of a miniature derrick.
Mr. Morrison, who was 77 years old, was born at York, Pa., on July 9, 1850. On March 23, 1874, he was united in marriaage to Alice Tawney.
He ahd been a resident of Florence for the past 31 years, coming here from Overton, Colo., where he spent his first two years in the state. He was a member of the Lucheran church at York, and belonged to the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving Mr. Morrison are his wife and five daughters and a son, Mrs. Bessie Hawk and Mrs. Fay Fisher of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Anna Gilbert, Mrs. Florence McLoney and Mrs. Maug Armstrong, and E. E. Morrison, all of Florence. Four brothers and a sister also survive him. They are Mrs. W. H. Norman of Banner, Kan., Andry, Ira and Edward Morrison of Portland, Ore., and Joseph Morrison of McComb, Ill.
