Mrs. Sarah Brooks was born in Cherokee County, Georgia and died at her home in Knox County, Texas. She was laid to rest in the Goree cemetery surrounded by friends and loved ones. Mrs. Brooks married S.A. Brooks on 29 July 1868. To this union 12 children were born - nine of whom with their broken-hearted father survive. Mrs. Brooks moved with her husband to Young County, Texas in 1874, where they lived until 1897 when they moved to Knox County. At the age of 15, Sister Brooks was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church South, of which she was a consistent member. She was a devout Christian. Survived by her husband; four daughters; five sons.
