Lucille M. Emerson, 90, formerly of Fergus Falls, passed away Thursday evening, October 26, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Watford City, ND.

Lucille M. Emerson was born October 16, 1921, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Sigurd and Helen (Sethre) Habberstad. The family moved to Seattle, WA for 2 years and then to Braham, MN where they farmed and Lucille was confirmed. In 1936 the family moved to Fergus Falls. Lucille's father worked as a custodian at Lutheran Brethren Schools where she graduated from in 1939. She worked at various jobs while attending school and after graduation moved to New York where she worked at Brooklyn, Huntington, and Long Island. She then moved to San Bernadina Valley, CA and also in Seattle, WA where she worked in the Seattle Quarter-Master Depot during the war years.

On April 10, 1943, she married Reuben B. Emerson at Fergus Falls. The couple resided in Montana before returning to Fergus Falls. Lucille worked various jobs at the Pioneer Retirement Center and also the Broen Memorial Home before retiring and moving into Riverbend Apartments.

Lucille is a member of the Living Faith Lutheran Brethren Church, was a member of the Fergus Falls Senior Center, kitchen band and chorus. She also attended the Salvation Army where she was president of the Home League Ladies Aide for several years. Lucille volunteered at the Lake Region Nursing Home and the Regional Treatment Center where she participated in Vespers through the Salvation Army. She taught Vacation Bible School for handicap participants. She attended Jewish Mission Circle and also served as President of the W.C.T.U. of Fergus Falls and participated in Christian Woman's Bible Studies. She held Child Evangelism Meetings in her home and was a leader of the Girls and Boys Scout Programs.

Lucille's interests included travel, taking pictures, gardening, entertaining family and friends, playing piano and enjoying family visits. She found great joy and comfort in her faith in Jesus Christ and his unfailing love.

Lucille is survived by: her children, Loretta (Charles) Olson of Sun City, AZ, Herbert (Kathy) Emerson, Minneapolis, MN, Joel Emerson, Omaha, NE, Linda (Daniel) Bundy, Watford City, ND; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lucille was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Rueben; sister, Harriet Thompsen; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home

Visitation: one hour prior to the service
