An older brother, R.V. and two younger brothers, J.B. (Jake) and W.A. (Dubs) completed the family.

Ruby was married to Charles Lynn Gunn in 1930. To this union was born a daughter, Gynn Oneida, and a son, John Truman.

In 1955, she married Winston Wallace Walker and gained two stepsons, Andrew and Michael. Ruby and Winston lived in Whittier, California and near Beaverton, Oregon, for some time before finally settling into Canyonville, Oregon, where they operated Canyon Camera Center several years before Win's health forced him to retire.

Win served Canyonville as City Councilor and then Mayor for eight years. Ruby served as Deputy Recorder and then City Recorder from 1974 until 1977. She enjoyed this work very much and only retired when her declining health made it necessary. When her health improved, she took over the management and care of the landscaping at City Hall from 1980 until 1992. At 80 years of age, she finally had to give it up.

It was at the age of 80 that she began to explore drawing and painting. Her portraits and landscapes are treasured by her family. How many more lovely pieces she could have done if Macular Degeneration had not damaged her eyesight and Arthritis had not crippled her fingers.

Ruby loved people and her greatest pleasure was in helping others. She will be remembered for her unfailing kindness to all. She so appreciated the loving care given her at Miller Manor by Alice Miller, Lena, Amanda, and Tammie and by her physician, Dr. Mark Philips. Also the faithful visits of Pastor John Gustafson who she always referred to as "Brother John".

Survivors include her daughter, Gynn; son, Truman; step-sons, Andrew and Michael, nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. A great-granddaughter and a great-great-grandson will add to her descendants when they are born in May.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, two husbands, one granddaughter, and one great- granddaughter.

Weather permitting, graveside services will be held in the Canyonville Cemetery [Odd Fellows section] at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Winston Walker.
