Charles C. "Jack" Rhodes, age 82, of Coffeyville, Kan. died Satuday evening, October 21 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center at Coffeyville.
He was born April 24, 1918 at Wimer, Okla to Benjamin Harris and Ethel Naomi (Scott) Rhodes. He attended school in Labette, Kansas. Following his schooling, he began working as a welder for Standolind Pipeline which was later named Amaco. Mr. Rhodes retired in 1976.
On April 24, 1939 he married Margaret Ellen Phillips in the United Methodist Church in Altamont, Kan. Following their marriage, they lived in Ada, Okla., Topeka, Kan., and in 1941, they moved to Tulsa. In 1952 they moved to Chanute, Kan.. After he retired, they moved to their farm at Edna, Kan. where he did welding for his friends and neighbors. In 1990, they moved to Coffeyville. He enjoyed bowling and reading.
Mr. Rhodes was a member of the Edna United Methodist Church and the Cherokee Indian Nation.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of the home; three daughters, Charlotte McMurray of Coffeyville; Linda Stanislaus of Chanute; Martha Price of Topeka; one brother, Joe Rhodes of Edna; one sister, Glenna Pdriznik of Renton, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard and Hubert Rhodes and one sister, Ruth Livingston.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 24 in the Edna United Methodist Church with burial in the North Edna Cemetery.
The family would welcome memorials to the Edna United Methodist Church or Edna Senior Citizens. Memorial gifts may be left at the funeral home.
