Benjamin Hubert Rhodees, 78, of Edna, died Monday, July 19, 1993, at his home.

He was born September 5, 1914, in Edna to Benjamin Harrison and Ethel (Scott) Rhodes. He attended and graduated from Edna High School in 1933. Following graduation he attended Business College in Parsons. After receiving his teaching certificate, he taught school at Hawkins and Lake Creek schools.

On October 25, 1936, he married Velma Reedy at Oswego. She survives of the home. They made their home in Edna. Mr. Rhodes wsa a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, from 1943 to 1946, and served on U.S.S. Makin Island. He retired from Farmland Industries in 1976, after 25 years of service.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edna; lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion; member and past board member of Patrons Mutual Insurance Association; Member of Altamont Grange, and active member of National Autumn Leaf Collectors Club.

Survivors are: two sons, Richard of Edna and David of Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Jack of Coffeyville, and Joe of Edna; one sister, Glenna Podriznik of Renton, WA; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Services were held Wednesday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Edna with Pastor Don Williams officiating. Burial will be in North Edna Cemetery. A memorial has been established to either the Edna Library or the First Baptist Church. The Bath Funeral Home of Altamont is in charge of arrangements.

"Pa" Rhodes will be missed by all those who loved and cherished him.
