From her obituary courtesy of Jennie Aiken -
About 58 years ago the family came here locating southwest of town where Mr. Reed was in a grist and saw mill business. For 50 years these two noble characters walked side by side through the toils of this life but sorrow came into the family by the death of the husband in January 1912. Harvey, the youngest son in March 1915, William G., the eldest in Blackstone, Virginia in 1919, and Oscar at Compton, California, in February 1923.
When still a young woman she gave her life to Christ and became a member of the Louisburg Baptist Church, shortly after its organization, and was a fateful worker and believer of her religion up to the time of her death, ever ready to give freely of her financial means, and was indeed a great factor of the Louisburg church. After the death of her husband she went to California to be among her loved ones and transferred her membership to the Compton Baptist Church making her last trip to Louisburg four years ago.
Mrs. Reed is survived by nine grandchildren. They are Dale and Harry Reed, of Compton, Calif.; Mrs. Richard Hurst, of Venture, Calif.; Roland Reed, of Drexel, Mo.; Carl Reed, of Oregon; Gladys and Max Reed of Blackstone, Virginia; and Mrs. Agatha Hamilton, of Colorado; also ten great grand children.
The body was brought to Louisburg, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Hurst of Venture, California. Services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10:30o'clock from the Baptist Church, by Reverend. E. J. Carlson and the remains were laid to rest at the side of her husband in the Louisburg Cemetery.
