This is Charles "Cicero" Hudson James. He is the son of Andrew Jackson "Jack" James (mem #30391705) and Marinda Josephine Hudson.
He married (1) Mary L. James and they had two children: Marinda born Oct 1883, and Grover C. born Feb 1887. Mary died 1890 and on 11 Feb 1891 he married (2) Sarah Jane "Sallie" Bendall (mem. #7946641). They had three children: Nellie born Feb 1892; Geneva born Aug 1894; and Oscar born Mar 1896. Sallie died 1921 and in 1922 he married (3) Louisa Ann Kimbrough.

Cicero's father returned from the Civil War with a case of Smallpox. He, along with Hudson G. Hester, who had also contracted the disease, were not allowed to enter the town and were sent deep into the woods to what was called a "Pest House" where they lived along with a third man who had survived a bout of smallpox and was to be their caretaker. Both Jack and Hudson died of the dreaded disease and were buried deep in the woods. Both graves were dug by this one caretaker alone as the fear of catching the disease stopped anyone from offering help. He then burned the cabin down.

Many years later as grown men, the son of A. J. James, Cicero James, and two of Hudson Hester's sons, Robert and Perry, teamed up and erected iron fences around the graves. Cicero, who was a blacksmith by trade probably manufactured them and Robert and Perry assisted with the cost and installation. Over time the graves were forgotten until 1964 when workmen, who were clearing land for City Lake and a dam site, rediscovered them.

In 1987, descendants of Jack James teamed together to purchase a memorial for his grave and erected a sign that said "Hester-James Cemetery."

Cicero Hudson James and Mary L. James had four children.
