Married Carol Beck in 1968, in Vermillion, S.D.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Gregory Hanneman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lyle was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Thurston County, Neb., the son of Elwood and Norma (Stansberry) Archer. He was a star basketball player in high school and attended Wayne State College. He lived in Thurston County, South Sioux City and then moved to Sioux City in 1960.

He married Carol Beck in 1968, in Vermillion, S.D. He was a shift manager at WinnaVegas Casino.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Cubs play and NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Archer of Sioux City; five sons, James (Jennifer) Archer of Palm Springs, Calif., Rick, Scott, Brent and Brian Archer; three daughters, Tara (Brad) Tullis of Sioux City, Desiree Rosenbaum of Akron, Iowa, and Angela Bea Archer of Phoenix, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; and two brothers, Gerald "Jeb" (Jackie) Archer of South Sioux City and Lee Stansberry of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Lonnie Beck, Gary Beck, Justin Peterson, Robert Johnson, Tregan Beck and Clark Wilson.
