ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL Monday, October 15, 1973

Dave Fresquez who served as U.S. marshal here for more than four years in the 1960s, died Sunday October 14, 1973,at a hospital after a short illness.

A native of Lincoln County, Fresquez joined the marshal's office in New Mexico as a deputy in the 1930's, and became chief U.S. marshal April 21, 1961. He retired four years later, upon reaching his 70th birthday.

Fresquez, who was active in state Democratic politics sought the party nomination for land commission in 1964, and in 1972 ran in the primary for Bernalillo County Sheriff.

He attended public schools in Picacho and Roswell and Benedictine College in Pueblo, Colo. He was a railroad machinist in Arizona and did construction work in Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Josie, and several brothers. He is survived by his second wife, Rosario Fresquez; a son, Paul Fresquez of Florence, KY; four grandchildren; a brother, Porfirio Fresquez and a sister, Pauline Pacheco.
