Hazel Boyce Hollowell, 90, of Paradise Road, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in Britthaven of Edenton.
Mrs. Hollowell was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Charlie Baker and Janie Byrum Boyce. Retired from United Piece & Dye Works, and as a driver with the North Carolina Council of the Blind, she was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ and Post 40 of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Adam Hollowell, Jr.; sons, George A. Hollowell, III, Carroll Baker Hollowell, and Joseph Eugene Hollowell; a sister, Eva Silverthorne, and a brother, Joseph Boyce.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty H. Ward and husband Jim and Connie H. Slades and husband Mike, all of Edenton; two sons, Jerry Hollowell and wife Jean of Edenton and Terry Hollowell and wife Kim of Hamlet, NC; three sisters, Mabel Lane and Vera Wallace, both of Edenton and Selma Evans of Raleigh; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ by the Rev. Thomas Biggs and the Rev. Bernard Hurdle. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
Friends may join the family Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the home of Betty and Jim Ward, 548 Soundside Drive.
