Survivors are: wife, Mildred Root of Central City; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Marilyn Root of Holmesville, William and Penny Root of Scotia and Jonathan and Diane Root of Central City; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Angel Espada of Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and Marlene and Dale Frimodt of Omaha; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Eldon grew up and received his education in Holmesville. He was united in marriage to Mildred J. Forsyth on March 10, 1949, in Holmesville. Eldon farmed down by Beatrice most of his life. In 1987, the couple moved to Central City, and Eldon helped Greg Senkbile on his farm.
Eldon was a member of Heartland Evangelical Free Church, and the Gideons.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Marion Root, and sisters, Ruth Mack, Addie Jenkins and Gertrude Root.
Burial was in the Brethren Cemetery, Holmesville, NE.
