Husband of Elizabeth Ann (McBride) Rinehart. Son of Joseph Rienhart and Margaret (Shanklin) Rinehart.

The following information was kindly provided by Findagrave member, 47749921:

Born on July 11, 1839, Hugh Rinehart was the second child of six born to Joseph W. Rinehart and Margaret Shank Rinehart. He grew up on the family farm in Wyandot County, Ohio. When the Civil War broke out in April of 1861, Hugh enlisted as a private for 90 days in Company I, 15th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, which included a lot of men from Wyandot County.

After Hugh's initial enlistment was over at the end of August of 1861, he was mustered out. On September 5, 1861, he married Elizabeth Ann McBride (1842-1918). The couple had three children, although only two lived to adulthood: Clara and Joseph Charles. Hugh worked as a carpenter to support his family. In 1890, he filed for a Civil War pension. In 1910, he was working as a sewing machine agent. As Hugh's health deteriorated, he and Elizabeth moved in with their minister son, Joseph Charles Rinehart, in Marion, Ohio. Hugh died of heart and lung problems on March 1, 1917. His widow Elizabeth died the following year, on April 24, 1918. Both are buried in Grand Prairie Cemetery in Marion, Ohio.
