Sergeant Roy A. Goodale was killed in action on 26 November 1944, while serving with the U.S. Army 90th Infantry Division, 357th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Company H, which attacked the town of Fuerweiler, Germany, and ran into stiff opposition and fire from all types of weapons. Fuerweiler was the first German town to be occupied in force by the Regiment.
