Jake was born in Aarhus, Denmark to Marie Jensen and Theodore Skabelund.

He met Lola Ann Bissegger, his life long love and friend and married her in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 23, 1912.

He loved the mountains and growing things. Both he and Lola spent many hours happily working in their yard and gardens.

Children: Infant, Joseph Howard, Lynne August, Peter, Lola, and Robert Eastman Skabelund.
