Fort Worth and West Texas banker, cattleman and oil man.

Breckenridge Walker married Miss Alice Davis on 13 March 1897 at Breckenridge, Texas. Their honeymoon was a short walk from the church to the best hotel, where they lived for some time at the rate of $16 per month for two room and board included.

The Walkers moved to Fort Worth in 1919 after purchasing a home at 1433 Pennsylvania Avenue so that two of their three daughters, Gladys and Pansy might attend Texas Christian University. They maintained a residence in Breckenridge until 1929.

Breck Walker's ambition to be a banker in his hometown led him in August 1907 to gather friends to purchase the First National Bank of Breckenridge. Walker was named president. As chief stockholder, Walker wrote a check for seven hundred thousand collards as his share when the bank struggled during the depression, noting on the face of the check "the value of a good name".

The Walkers and their close friends and business partners, the C.M. Caldwells built Breckenridge's first water system, established Breckenridge's first daily newspaper and built a number of modern business buildings in the town in addition to aiding in the construction of several church buildings. They aided in bringing the first railroad to Stephens County.

Walker owned a 23,000 acre ranch located on the Clear Fork of the Brazos river about 12 miles northeast of Albany. On the west side of the ranch is the "Flat", a frontier town near Fort Griffin.

When the Walkers moved to Fort Worth, their interests were oil, lumber and ranching, but banking was chief of all. Walker was the head of the FIrst National Bank at Breckenridge at his death. He was board chair of the First National Bank of Fort Worth and the first board chair.

Walker was director of the American Exchange National Bank of Dallas, now the First National Bank of Dallas. He was president at this bank at his death.
