CENTER, Texas-- Jack Sweeney Sr., 65, of Joaquin, Texas, formerly of
Hermitage, Arkansas, died December 8, 1997, at Pine Grove Nursing Center.
Born May 20, 1932, in Bradley County, Arkansas, he was a son of the late
Claude L. Sweeney Sr. and Georgia L. Langston Sweeney.
He was a farmer and tree planter. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church
at Gravelridge, Arkansas, and served in the armed forces during the Korean
War.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Sweeney, and a brother, Sidney
Sweeney.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Sweeney of Marsden, Arkansas, and Jackie
Dean Sweeney Jr. of Hampton, Arkansas; two daughters, Judy Kay Clanton of
Hermitage and Kimberly Thurman of Joaquin; two brothers, Claude Sweeney Jr.
and James Harold Sweeney, both of Hermitage; five sisters, Verna Lee Sweeney,
Emily Booker and Irma Rotton, all of Hermitage, Anna Joe Noland of Memphis and
Nell Hardin of Glibert, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at Anitoch Baptist Church
at Gravelridge with Bob Meggs and Terrell Wallace officiating. Burial will be
in Gravelridge Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren, Arkansas.
