Mrs. W. G. Withers Succumbs Saturday After Long Illness

Mrs. Gentry Withers, 84, of south of here, passed away Saturday, October 31, 1959, in her home after a long illness.

Lara Mae Withers was born March 22, 1875 near Clarence, the daughter of John and Sarah Walker Sage. She was married to Gentry Withers on March 25, 1896, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Witt of south of Clarence; one grandson, Dr. Roger Witt of Ft. Worth, Texas; three great-grandchildren of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Ida Snodgrass of Clarence; three brothers, Emmett and Errett(sic) Sage of Clarence, and Clem Sage of Yakima, Washington, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by an infant son.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Withers was a popular rural school teacher in this area. She had been a member of the Union Christian Church for 72 years and had been a faithful member and attended services as long as she was physically able.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Greening Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Elba Martin, and interment was in the Maplewood Mausoleum.
