Leroy Boldt

BENTON - Leroy E. Boldt, 85, died at 12:23 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, in St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born in Woodlawn on Aug. 28, 1925, the son of Albert and Marietta (Breeze) Boldt.

He married Audrey (Stockton) on March 31, 1949, in Christopher, and she survives. Mr. Boldt was a World War II Navy veteran, serving from 1943 to 1947. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in December 1986. He was a member of the PT Boaters Association. He was a member and Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in West City and attended the Faith Assembly Fellowship in West Frankfort. Mr. Boldt enjoyed gardening, hiking, deer and rabbit hunting and his beagles.

Mr. Boldt is survived by his wife, Audrey Boldt of Benton; three children, Janet Lee Toney and husband Glendall of Carbondale, Pamela Jean McCown and husband, Andrew, of Los Alamos, N.M., Scott Earl Boldt and wife, Carolyn, of Kennesaw, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Eugene Boldt and wife Norma of Ashley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred Irene; one brother, Orville Lee; and a grandson, Cameron.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, in the Faith Assembly Fellowship in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Eugene Cowsert and Glendall Toney officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be conducted by the Benton American Legion in the Masonic and Oddfel-lows Cemetery in Benton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton; and after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
