Obituary for Janice (Jan) Hamlett Rice Howell
Services for Janice Rice Howell, age 44, will be today at 11:00 AM from the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. Elmer Cole and Rev. David Green officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Howell died Saturday morning at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness.
She was born and reared in Jackson-Madison County, the daughter of Leander Martin and Robert Earl Hamlett both of Jackson who survives. Mrs Howell, a secretary with Moss, Benton, Wallis and Pettigrew Attorneys, was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church in Henderson.
She is survived by her parents and her husband, Walter Howell, whom she married August 6, 1994. Also surviving is a son, Bryan Robert Rice of Jackson; two step-daughters, Ginger Howell of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; Melanie Howell of Gueplh, Ontario, Canada; one step-son, Bryan Howell of Knoxville, TN; one sister, Delores Hamlett Marsalia of Venezuela; one brother, Robert Curtis Hamlett of Pineville, LA; and one granddaughter, Rachel Abigail Rice of Jackson.
Casketbearers to serve will be Harmon Arnold, Paul Jones, Bobby Jones, Anthony Arnold, Fred Palmer and Allan Lane Arnold.
