Ben C. Bailey, 78, of Spring Mills, formerly of Rebersburg, died on Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Centre Crest nursing home in Bellefornte. Born on July 1, 1924 in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Katurah Flick Bailey.
On July 2, 1971, he married Mariam M. Rearick, who survives at home.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Force.
He was a carpener for Tom Drew in Pine Grove Mills. He was a truck driver for Glenn O. Hawbaker, Agway and Shoemakers.
He was a member of the Millheim Legion Post 444, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Bellefonte.
He enjoyed dancing, picnicking and camping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Leiss, of Wooster Ohio, and Barbara D. Vanada, of Centre Hall; a son Scott A. Bailey, of Centre Hall; and four stepdaughters, Beatrice K. Bilger, of Lewistown, Jamie L. Bower, of Port Matilda, Kathy Rockey, of Zion, and Jennifer Holdren, of Lamar; two sisters, Betty Grubb and Sally Dreibelbis, both of State College; two grandchildren; a greatgrandchild; 14 stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud and Bill Bailey.
A meal will be served at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Concord Room of Courtyard by Marriott, 1730 University Drive, State College.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Grays Cemetery
