Lucy is said to be the first of five known wives of Phineas Merrill . . . her date of birth comes from the Thurston Genealogies . . . according to the First book of records of the town of Pepperellborough now the city of Saco an intention of marriage was entered on September 25th, 1808 for Phinehas Merrell of Saco and Lucy Thurston of Scarborough . . . The Ancestry of Walter M. Thurston shows that they married on the 21st of that October . . . and Thurston Genealogies shows that Lucy was married by Rev. Asa Heath to Phineas Merrill of Scarboro beach on the 23rd of that October . . . Lucy and Phineas are known to have had five children with at least three dying in infancy . . . Lucy died shortly after giving birth to Thomas in May of 1821, with little Thomas dying in July of that year.
