David L. Amspoker was born October 23, 1833, in Harrison county, Ohio, a son of Alexander and Mary Lyons Amspoker. In 1856 he left Ohio and came to Washington County and was united in marriage here with Miss Sarah J. Nelson, who died at the home in Washington eleven years ago. Mr. and Mrs Amspoker lived on a farm in Washington township for many years and came to town eighteen years ago last October. Mr. Amspoker was a very likable man and was held in high esteem by a large number of acquaintances. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church.
Surviving Mr. Amspoker are four children: Mrs. M. W. Lewis of Akron Colo., F. W. Amspoker of Lu Verne Iowa, Mrs. R. P. Bradford of Salem Ore., Mrs. J. D. Finney of Des Moines, Iowa.
