Son of John Jenks (d.1810) and Amey (Ballou) Jenks (b.1727) of Providence,RI.

His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Jenks (c1687/8-1753) and Catherine (Scott) Jenks.

His maternal grandfather was Peter Ballou.

He was a grocer at Pawtucket,MA, and saw action in the Revolutionary War. George Jenks served in 1778 as a musician (a Fifer) in the Rhode Island Expeditionary Force. In 1838 he applied for a pension, which was allowed.

Children: an infant son, Nathaniel Miller Jenks, Lemuel Holmes Jenks, James Varnum Jenks(husband of Olive Crossman Jenks), George Foster Jenks, Albert Carlisle Jenks, William Thompson Jenks(husband of Patience Hall Jenks), Eliza M Jenks, Rebecca Jenks, Ida E Jenks, and Edmund George Jenks.
