She attended Stephenville schools and graduated from Tarleton College in Stephenville and Hardin-Simmons College in Abilene.
She married Haskell Key on 19 August 1928 at Stephenville. She taught school in Dickens from 1928-1929 and moved to Breckenridge to begin teaching school in 1929 where she taught music and fifth grade for 42 years retiring in 1971. She was a member of Retired Teacher's Association, charter member of the Woman's Forum and member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors: husband; two sisters - Mrs. L.A. Rawlings of Paris and Mrs. A.M. Tate of Austin; sister-in-law - Mrs. W.B. Sansing of Amarillo; two nephews - Dr. A.M. Tate, Jr. of Austin and Dr. W.A. Sansing of Amarillo.
