Samuel L. Spikes Expires Thursday; Services Friday

Samuel L. Spikes, 76, died at his home, 1238 West Fifth avenue, early Thursday morning following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held from the McCammon Chapel Friday at 2 PM with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.

The rites will be conducted by Dr. Matthew H. Arnold, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Henry M. Bailey, pastor of the Patterson Memorial Presbyterian Church of Eureka.

Born Feb. 22, 1879, at Crystal Springs, Miss., Spikes had resided in Corsicana since seven years of age.

A retired employee of the Magnolia Petroleum Company, Spikes was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and was active in the veterans' organization.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Camille M. Spikes, Corsicana; a son, Tom M. Spikes, Corsicana; two daughters, Mrs. T.H. Ralph, Clifton, and Mrs. W.R. Hall Jr., Belton; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Hamilton, Mrs. Ernestine Goodwin, and Mrs. Johnnie Barnes, all of Dallas, and Mrs. Van Bell, Barry; and other relatives.
