Foster was married to the love and the center of his life, LaVonne Myers, for 69 years. Foster graduated from Callaway High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he was a lettering member of the wrestling team. He remained an avid Husker sports fan.
Foster's second love was the land, the crops it produced, and the animals it would sustain. He believed if you treated the land with special care that it would provide a fulfilling life for the family he cherished.
Foster was a prominent community member, rancher, and farmer. Not only was he instrumental in helping create a better environment in the area he loved, he made his dreams come true by serving on and leading many community government organizations including the Federal Land Bank, the Callaway Public School Board, and COOP Boards (Oil, creamery, and Farmer's Elevator). Foster was also instrumental in helping to bring improved medical services to Callaway. He was a member of Callaway United Methodist Church.
