Daniel Glover, 84, esteemed resident of the Monticello community for more than fifty years, died at the family home now occupied by this only son, Wesley Glover, at noon Saturday following an illness of some weeks.
A native of Summit, Mr. Glover moved to Lawrence county many years ago. He was married to Miss Mary Jane Williams, a native of Ohio, whose death occurred in January 1942. He was the father of five children, a son dying some years ago.
Mr. Glover was the last surviving charter member of the New Hope Baptist church. He was formerly a justice of the peace in the First District.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the New Hope Baptist church with his pastor, Rev. M.C. Nelson, conducting the services.
Pallbearers were Ralph M. Hearn, Larue Boyles and Wesley Glover, Jr., grandsons and M.L. Martin, Lee and Richard Morgan.
Immediate survivors are his son, Wesley Glover, Monticello; three daughters, Mrs. E.E. Hearn and Mrs. W.C. Boyles, Monticello and Mrs. W.C. Amsler, Battle Creek, Mich., Fifteen grandchildren and a brother, Parham Glover, Los Angeles, California.
