"The LaFayette Sun" - January 20, 1903:

Obituary.

About 6 o'clock, p.m., Jan. 7th, 1903, the Death angel appeared and plucked from earth one of its sweetest flowers, but we have reason to hope that it has been transplanted in the beautiful garden above where there is no chilling storms to check its growth.
Susie May Childers was born May 6, 1886, and died January 7, 1903. She was the youngest of six children. She leaves an aged father and mother, 3 brothers and two sisters, besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. She will indeed be missed by all, for to know her was to love her. To her heart-broken parents we would say, weep not, for this is but one more link to bind us to the heavenly realms.
Followed by a concourse of relatives and friends, and after some very comforting remarks by Rev. C. C. Pugh, her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Rock Spring to await the resurrection of the just.

AND...

In Memory of our Dearly Beloved Susie.

Wednesday evening, January 7th at 6 o'clock, the sad words "Susie Childers is dead" rang out forcibly in our ears.
Susie was the dearly beloved and youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. F. Childrers.
She was born May 6, 1886 and died January 7, 1903. She joined the Christian Church at Pleasant Grove July 1901.
She was 16 years old, just blooming into sweet womanhood, when her soul was required, as a precious gem, to complete her Savior's crown. She was loved by all who knew her.
Her form will be among us nevermore, except as a comforting angel.
Ah, dear bereaved, comfort yourselves with the _____ that her death is another link in the chain, which binds us all to Heaven. Her dying words were the most beautiful ones ever uttered by human tongue. She called the family to her bedside and said, "Mamma, I see my Savior; just look at the angels!" and then sang "Happy in the Savior."

Her presence in her home is missed,
Her voice is heard no more;
But now she's sweetly singing,
In that happy golden shore.

Numerous friends extend their sincerest sympathies to the bereaved ones.

- Willie and Verna.
