Helen L. Hermon age 91 of McComb died Saturday October 22, 2011 4:45 a.m. at The Heritage in Findlay where she had been for 2 months; prior to that she had been at the Taylor House since 2007. She was born April 12, 1920 in McComb to John and Blanch (Kieffer) Gangle. On August 3, 1944 she married Harding Hermon and he died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007. Surviving is a son Edward L. (Pamela) Hermon of Findlay and a daughter Mrs. Peggy E. (Dean) Parker of North Bloomfield, Ohio. There are 8 grandchildren: Rachelle (Mark) Bagley of Van Wert, OH; Ryan (Kathi) Amstutz of Leipsic, OH; Scott (Emily) Hermon of Rootstown, OH; Beth (Frank) Kuligowski of Izmir, Turkey; Lisa (Shawn) Theis of Columbus, OH; Brock (Leah) Amstutz Richwood, OH; Dale Parker of Toledo, OH; and Linsey (Matt) Wiechart of Ft. Jennings, OH; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hermon was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary L. Amstutz, a sister Ruth Phillips; and 3 brothers William, Max, and Dale Gangle.
Mrs. Hermon was a homemaker. She was a 1938 graduate of McComb High School. She was a member of the McComb Church of Christ and the Christian Workers of the church. Mrs. Hermon played the piano at the church for over 60 years. She was a member of the Query Literary Club in McComb. Mrs. Hermon loved to sew.
Visitation will be on Tuesday October 25, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at the HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME in McComb. The funeral service will be on Wednesday October 26, 2011 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Breitigam officiating. Burial will take place in McComb Union Cemetery.
