On May 15, 1900, three miles from Potts Camp, Mrs. Lucinda L. Gurley, after a sickness of one year, aged 70 years.
She was the wife of Mr. Wm. L. Gurley, an old citizen of this part of the county. Mrs. Gurley was an exemplary woman, loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for thirty years. She was buried at Temperance Hill Cemetery (Chewalla Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery) on the 16th. There was a very large gathering of relatives and friends present. She leaves a husband, several children and a host of friends to mourn her loss.
